is a TV channel, and it's pretty awesome (or, it was)
So, back in the 90s, this guy, Ted turner, who had previously created CNN, one day tried to buy CBS, but failed, so instead he bought MGM, and then was in debt, and alot of it. so then he gave it all back, all EXEPT the cartoons, so he decided to use those alongside the WB cartoons and created "The Cartoon Network" but they removed the "the" just before it launched, and then that leads us to October 1992, where Cartoon Network became a thing, airing old cartoons for about a year until they started airing "What a Cartoon" where animators sumbmit their Cartoons to be seen on TV! so this guy in his 20s, Genndy Tartakovsky submitted a short called "Dexter's Laboratory" and the network loved it so much that they gave Genndy his own show, the Networks first REAL Show! and the rest is history.
Dexter's Lab is a show about a Boy with a big brain secret Lab in his bedroom (that he SOMEHOW hides from his parents) but he can't hide it from his annoying sister, Dee Dee, who constantly ruins his experiments. I really like Dexter's Lab because, while Dexter still IS a genius, he's a BOY genius, and most of his creations reflect that, such as a giant mech made just so he can win at dodgeball, or a robotic Mother to help do housework while the REAL mum is sick. But as the saying goes "Nothing is Perfect" and that especially shines in Dexter's Lab, Dee Dee, Dexter's Sister, who ruins everything, making room for in the show for some classic Slapsitck comedy, such as Dee Dee taking control of the Previously mentioned "Mom-Droid" forcing Dexter to make another, better one, leading to a fight.
Johnny Bravo is a show about a Blond Elvis Presley Impersonator with big muscles, almost as big as his ego, and his one main goal is to get a girlfriend (I am not joking this is an actual show) and he always gets beat up. Thats the entire plot. and its an actually good. Nothing much left to say
While at first the name may sound like some pop band that has no reason to top the charts, The Powerpuff Girls (from 1998, there was a reboot) is a show, and it's really good, I feel like alot of people never watched PPG because it was "Too Girly" for them, and lemme just say that is so far away from the truth. The Powerpuff Girls was literally created BY a male, Craig McCrakken, but that aside, onto the Plot! The Powerpuff Girls is about when the scientist, Professor Utonium tries to use science to make 3 little girls, these plots are really weird so I won't question it, but after adding the main engredients (Sugar, spice and everything nice) he accidentally bumped into and added Chemical X, that seems to have given them a mind of about a 9-ish year old, a kindergartener's body and matching outfits. Oh and I guess Superpowers, but that's not important. or IS it, so the 3 Girls: Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup each have their own unique personality, so Blossom is the leader and always has a plan, Bubbles is the childish and playful one and Buttercup always has a punch up her sleeve and they use their abillities to fight crime anf save their home city, Townsville. "Ah, the city of Townsville!" is the way every episode starts, I usually don't like Narrators but the narrator, Tom Kenny (Who Ironically voices SpongeBob) is ok, I guess, and each episode usually starts with trouble happening, and one of my favourite parts is one episode (Episode 8 Part 1) Just starts with "The city of Townsville... IS ON FIRE!" and it cracks me up everytime I watch that episode (2 times) and yes, it has more comedy gold. And also, this show, throughout the Late 90s and Early 2000s, PPG obviusly made Cartoon Network a bunch of money, and had tons of merchandise made for the show, and even a Movie that aired in actual theatres, It flopped at the Box Office, but it was made!
Ed, Edd n Eddy is a show about 3 Kids living in a Cul-De-Sac that spends their freetime scamming the other kids to get enough money to afford Jawbreakers! And they all have the same name. Yes, I know it sounds stupid, but this is a plot for a slapstick Cartoon. It WILL sound stupid! But, anyways, The show focuses on Ed, a really Dumb Kid, Edd (or Double D), The really smart and organized one, and Eddy, who will just jump straight into action. when first seeing an episode of the show, one of the things that will immediatly Pop Out is the moving outlines, I heard somewhere that the show's creator (Danny Antonucci) did this to make the characters look "Alive", because in other Toons' on TV at the time, when a character stood still, they stood a bit TOO still, and looked like cardboard cut-outs. But I need to tell you guys about one of the most Iconic elements of the Series: Plank. Owned by Johnny 2x4, Plank is his "Imaginary" Friend that everyone probably knows is a piece of wood, but they still treat him like a sentient being, that, in some cases, can be pretty funny, and speaking of "Funny Plank Thingsā¢" Apparently, the Big Boys at WB REALLY wanted Plank to be sentient, but Danny, wouldn't let that happen, so you know those pieces of paper where you draw a characters expression so the Animators have a reference? Well when Danny Antonucci was Drawing Plank's, he Just drew the same image of Plank just smiling for every expression.
This is a REALLY weird one, Cartoon Network's attempt at... Horror? Yeah, At this point (1999) The Network Hasn't even been around for a decade, and it feels like they've done EVERYTHING. So Courage is a show about this pink Dog named Courage who is well, Cowardly but deep down inside he DOES have some courage! As a proud Dog owner, yes the way he acts is quite similar to MY dog, Willow, so right on, CN! He's very loyal and wants to protect his family, Is oddly smart, but also sorta dumb, and is worried by everything (But in the Middle of Nowhere, I think he sorta should be with all the weird crap happening) . Alot of people said that as a kid "It scared them" but It never really scared me, but I like the shows incorporation of CGI for some stuff! But something intresting is The "true story" the show was "based off of" But here's a brief explanation for you guys: In a house somewhere in the middle of the desert, or rather "Nowhere" (The show's setting) There was a couple and their dog who lived in a shack (That looks oddly like the shack in the show) Apparently whitnessed multiple strange things (LIKE IN THE SHOW OH MY GOD) But one day they went missing, and only their Dog was found. So next time you see your Animation-Obsessed friend(s), you can tell them that story!
Ok, This is a cool one, Imagine if You and your friends made and lived in a GIANT treehouse where you hang out, play video games, use and make cool tech and battle the people that look down on you. You're not alone, as five 10-Year-old kids did it back in the 2000s! and... Oh, it's not real. Ok. Well anyways, the show mainly stars Numbuh 1 (Who I'm going trick-or treating as this year(yes, I do that)), Numbuh 2, Numbuh 3, Numbuh 4, and, Get this, Numbuh 5, The show was probably made to appeal to and be "The Coolest Thing" to all Kids aged 8-12. Ah, yes: The coolest thing ever, intentional misspellings. But I'm guessing they succeded, as there was a TON of merchandise made for the show. And this is the first show on the list to be cancled for fun by Stuart Synder, that at the time, latest and "Greatest" CEO, the one after, argueably CN's best CEO, Jim Samples. That arguably marked the downfall of Cartoon Network.
This show is about when this Kid, Billy's hampster dies, of course, the Grim Reaper comes to do his thing, but Billy doesn't let him, and with a little help from his best friend, Mandy, they force Grim to become friends with them. Yes, that is a real TV Show. One of the reasons I like it is that it's very "weird" sense of humor, along with the very well written characters, like Billy, who is "The stupid one" But most of the time, is more funny than annoying, that around the time of this show, Cartoon Network had already mastered the art of stupid people, but then 15 Years later, it's rare we see a well-written character made by CN at all. And then there's Mandy, someone who can make anyone depressed in seconds, that's pretty much all there is to her, But a fun story from this official interview thingie posted on CN's website in the 2000s is that Mandy's voice actor (Grey Delisle) only usally did the roles for really high-energy and bubbly characters, but then she did the complete opposite, and then there is Grim, Who just REALLY doesn't want to be there. But he also has a funny story behind his voice, So when Grim's voice actor, (Greg Eagles) was auditioning for the role, at first he was doing this deep voice, but it also had this accent that somehow fit so well.
Foster's Home is a Show made by Craig McCracken, a name you might be Familiar with if you have read the Powerpuff Girls Section, anyways, he made another show and called it "Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends", but that's too long so I'll just call it Foster's Home from now on. So, this 8-Year-Old Kid named Mac is getting too old for his Imaginary Friend, Bloo, but Mac doesn't want to forget about him, so Bloo finds out about this place called "Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends" not too far from them, so the next day, Mac and Bloo check it out. There's this whole Plotline at the start of the show that was streched out into three episodes, I highly suggest you watch that. Something I noticed is that for some reason, (not too sure what way around this is) but one time the Tiles have no reflection, but later, they do, I Dunno. Something else to note is that this was animated in Flash, an Animation software primarily used for web Animation back in the 2000s, and you sure can tell, with it's heavy use of Motion Tweens!
I've never really went camping, but after seeing this, I want to go much less. Just kidding, the reason I want to go is that I'm an Australian! But this show really makes me feel like I'm camping! Ok, jokes aside, It's only been a couple of weeks since the DVD came in the mail, I don't remember this show much at all, exept, like, the theme song. So I didn't know what to expect from this. but it was pretty good! So, the characters: Lazlo, a playful brazillian Monkey. Raj: An Indian Elephant who is always pretty scared about things. And then Clam: A small Rhino who is sorta there and usually just repeats what Raj or Lazlo says. And this show is very good and made me laugh more than a couple of times! And nothing really left to say.
Oh yeah! This one's my FAVORITE Cartoon Network Show, My Favorite Cartoon, My Favorite SHOW, My Favorite peice of media, EVER!! So this show is About this regular 10-Year-Old, Ben Tennyson, going on his summer vacatiom with his grandpa, Max (And cousin, Gwen) The vacation was meant to be just a regular roadtrip across the United States of America, but It soon becomes much more than anyone expected when on the first night of the trip, Ben goes on a walk in the forest, but then a "Shooting Star" comes and crash lands on the ground, but it turns out, it wasn't a star at all, but rather, a prototype of a Futuristic Watch from space called "The Omnitrix" that lets the wearer become any of 10 Aliens for a short period of time, and literally walk a mile in someone elses shoes. Ben uses this abillity to his advantage, by using it for Good, and then save the world from evil! And that is the coolest concept for anything, ever, you can not convince me otherwise. And if that's not cool enough, check out all these aliens! There's Heatblast, A living Flame, that can make and shoot flames from his hands, and also use them to fly in the air! or Fourarms, that has four arms that he uses to fight, he can also jump pretty high, but can't run that fast. Or how about XLR8 Who can move so fast, he can literally slow down time! And create tornados! And he has 10 of them, I highly suggest checking them all out on the Ben 10 Wiki! And this show also has a continuing Storyline! At least in the first season, so, from the moment Ben gets the Omnitrix, Max acts very suspicious, such as correcting Gwen "He's not a monster, He's an alien!" And this Guy with a squid for a head (He has a name, But that's spoliers) Wants the Omnitrix to take over the world, but in the first scene, this guy is attacking another ship to get the watch, but in retaliation, the alien in the other ship sends the watch to earth and blows the squid guy's ship to bits, But while he recovers, he watches over Ben, and sends drones his way to try and stop him. Until the last episode of the season, this plot is so Epic, I can't really make it sound as cool as it actually is, but trust me, this is a must-watch! Oh! And with ALL those aliens in an Action Show with cool designs.. Capitilisim! Yeah, so in the LATE 2000s, Ben 10 was CN's Cash Cow! some elements of the show is definetly for money, but the show is still Awesome!! Trust. Me. Watch. It. NOW..
