Spoiler alert for the thing I'm talking 'bout!
I just finished watching the new Jellystone crossover episode, "Crisis on infinite Mirths" and it was incredible.
As someone who's been watching these Cartoon Network shows since I was a kid, I've always dreamed of having a big Cartoon Network crossover episode, while yes, you may point to the bumpers throughout the years, or "Crossover Nexus", but the first is just a bumper, the second, has mostly characters I know next-to nothing about in leading roles.
But, here, when this was announced, I knew, with all of the geeks who are fond of their saturday mornings as a wee lad, and all the material CN has to work with, that this was gonna be something great.
Even though I've never seen an episode of "Jellystone", before, nor many old Hanna-Barbera 'toons the series is based off of (although, I should get around to watching more.), I was going to watch this, even if it meant doing what I want ('cause a pirate is free!), I watched it, and here are my thoughts.:
I squealed like a little girl every time new characters came on-screen, this crap was pure eyecandy all the way through.
I loved how Billy was written throughout the entire episode, from him referencing the future where they "Got that reboot", to him becoming a dog. Love. it. all!
Ben Tennyson deserves more than 10 seconds of screentime!!!
That abrupt ending was really funny, it just seems that they repainted the "Yes!" era walls from blood-red to light blue!
Did you see that one shot where Finn is just laying on the ground, dead?
1998 Bubbles beating up 2016 Bubbles was really funny. Apparently, PPG creator, (and all other show creators, when making the crossover) Craig McCrakken was asked to write notes for the characters, and that was one of the things he wanted to happen.
OH GOD, OH GOD, OH GOD, why did Dexter actually say "I really shipped you guys!"!? We truly do live in a society.
I complimented Billy's performance earlier, but I don't have the same to say about Mandy's because of one line: "Just what the world needs: another crossover reviving old cartoon characters back from the dead, just so some dirtbag animator can buy a third yacht." when no, animators are not payed enough at all for what they do, you should be talking about the companies overworking them, not the animators being idiots!
Great! Better than the leaked PPG CW trailer!
I rate this one a Ben 10 deserved better than this/10!
