Even though it's 2025 and the Nintendo Switch is being played everywhere, while the next Nintendo console was just announced, I'm still in my room, on my Sony Trinitron, playing "Super Mario galaxy" on my Wii. But why? Well, to start, it still has a great game library, including games such as...
And it's not only me! There are many people out there on the web who uses their rusty, dusty, released-in-2006 Wii over their sorta-sparkling released-in-2017 Switch, I also doubt that'll change all that much with the release of the Switch 2.
At the time of it's release and height of popularity, it was pretty much the only console you needed plugged into your TV, as with the power of backwards compatability and the downloadable ports (the "Virtual console"), you could play all generations of Nintendo on the Wii!
Oh! And (if you're not nintendo) let's not forget the homebrew! While most people would just say the big advantage of Wii homebrew is piracy, for legal reasons, the big advantage isn't piracy, but... Wii Donut! And I guess you can bring back the wi-fi services, play DVDs, watch YouTube (those last two via the same app, as well!) and ORDER PIZZA, but Wii donut is cooler, dammit!
And even if you can do everything a Wii can on the Wii U, or (gulp) use Dolphin and download ROMs from Vimm's lair, you just can't beat the overall aura that comes with the console, the controllers, it having to be plugged in to a TV, and probably a lot more I'm not aware of, in my opinion, you just can't beat the Wii.
Wii number (for those with WiiLink24): 4745 7228 1863 0685
